Hilton Head Island also plays an important role in the conservation of endangered sea turtles. Every year, between May and October, the loggerhead turtles are welcomed to the beautiful beaches to build hundreds of nests and lay eggs. In true Lowcountry fashion, the community works together to make sure the hatchlings can safely make the trek from the warm beaches to their new ocean home.
